Description

Chassis No. 9309800625 Engine No. 6890454 Transmission No. 7791440Porsche introduced the 911 Turbo, internally designated the Type 930, in the mid-1970s as the marque's first turbocharged production road car, and by the end of the decade it stood as the flagship of the 911 range, prized for its broad-shouldered stance and outsized performance relative to its contemporaries. Tightening emissions standards brought this chapter to a close for American buyers, and 1979 marked the final model year the 930 Turbo was offered stateside before Porsche withdrew it from the U.S. market for the following several years. This example was sold new through Martin-Johnson Porsche Audi of Oakland, California to original owner James Wallace Jr. of La Verne. It is finished in a seldom-seen, sophisticated shade of Minerva Blue Metallic, paired with a special order Blue leather interior. It is a combination rarely encountered on the model, lending this 911 Turbo a unique look within a sea of Guards Red and Grand Prix White examples. The car was optioned generously from new with a black roofliner, a limited-slip differential, an electric sunroof, an electric right-hand sideview mirror, and leather Recaro sports seats. The original window sticker accompanying the car confirms these options added $1,745 to the base price, for a total of $44,445, a substantial sum considering the sporting 911 SC cost $24,000 at the time! Its service book records that the Turbo received a valve job, new piston rings, and timing chain rails and tensioners at 15,000 miles. Further servicing and maintenance through the years is documented in a large history file that will accompany the car. In preparation for its appearance at Quail Lodge, in May 2026 the 930 was treated to an oil service, brake fluid flush, and replacement of the transmission fluid.Displaying 67,026 miles at the time of cataloging, this 911 Turbo is offered with its Owner's Manual, stamped Warranty & Maintenance book, its original window sticker, a history file including records and invoices through the years, and Porsche's Certificate of Authenticity confirming its numbers-matching status. Few Porsches command the reverence of the original Type 930, a car whose combination of turbocharged ferocity and everyday usability continues to define the marque today. This example's rare Minerva Blue Metallic and Blue leather livery and limited use set it apart from the majority of 3.3-liter Turbos seen today.
