1972 BMW 2002 Baur Convertible

After the 700 came the Neue Klasse for BMW. Once again, Baur produced the convertible version. Initially (just like the 501 and 700), it was fully open. However, due to the sporty character BMW had acquired, the convertible was also driven sportily, and the fully open version proved not rigid enough for this. To remedy this, a type of Targa roll bar was used. With this design, the hard central panel was removable, and the rear window could be folded down. This construction would become a defining feature of the later BMW Baur TCs. The first BMWs made by Baur in this way came from the O02 series.
