In 1963, the 230 SL was introduced. At the time, Mercedes had something to prove. The 300 SL was highly impressive, but simply out of reach for many. The 190 SL looked the part, but according to some, lacked performance. With the 230 SL, Mercedes-Benz provided the answer. Described by Mercedes itself as a fast and safe 'sports car,' but one that you could comfortably drive all the way to the south of France. That idea is still very much present the moment you sit behind the wheel.

Under the hood sits a 2.3-liter inline-six with a wonderful sound. Not excessively fast, but exactly sufficient. It is mainly the way it delivers its power. Smooth, composed, and very comfortable to drive. A truly excellent Mercedes with outstanding touring capabilities.
