1936 Auburn 852 SC Cabriolet

Presented in striking Auburn Onyx Black with a rich slate gray leather interior, this 1936 Auburn 852 Convertible Cabriolet is a true jewel of prewar American motoring. The car underwent a comprehensive, nut-and-bolt, frame-off restoration by renowned Auburn authority James Milligan and owner of Auburn West, a respected purveyor of Auburn new-old-stock (NOS) parts and a trusted source for service components essential to preserving these rare and venerable classics.

The restoration, performed during Mr. Milligan's personal 30-year stewardship, spared no detail. The bodywork is simply amazing and finished to a near-flawless standard, complemented by show-quality chrome, a beautifully tailored convertible top, and a meticulously restored interior. Mechanically, the supercharged engine, transmission, and rear differential were rebuilt and detailed to exacting factory specifications, ensuring the car performs as impressively as it presents.

Only original restored components, NOS parts, or otherwise perfect pieces were used throughout the restoration, resulting in a concours-level example. This cabriolet has been certified as a Category One car by the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Club, the gold standard of authenticity and correctness for these marques.

Though the restoration was completed in the 1990s, the car remains in show-stopping condition thanks to its life in climate-controlled museum care. It is mechanically sound, cosmetically immaculate, and needs nothing to be enjoyed, shown, or proudly added to a discerning collection.
