Desirable F Super model from a private collection entered alongside the 1936 Super Sports also in this sale

The subject of an extensive restoration in 2010 by Bob Barlow Car Restoration

Photographic record of the restoration

Henry Frederick Stanley Morgan was the son of a vicar, but unlike his father and grandfather, he chose not to enter the church. Instead, he became an engineering apprentice with the railway. In 1910, he founded the Morgan Motor Company Ltd and showcased his first three-wheeler at the Motor Cycle Show that same year, the F4 and later replaced by the F2 (a two-seater) in 1936.

“In 1938 this (the F2) was replaced by the F Super (Sports). The body line was now lowered 2” and the occupants were similarly lowered - no, not that - the seats were lowered! The general appearance was made far more stylish with swept back wings, a lowered radiator, extra bonnet louvres and a fold-flat windscreen… The longer wheelbase and the centre of gravity shifted backwards made them feel different to drive but the handling was well up to Morgan standards. Sadly, production ceased in 1952. The world had moved on and the side-valve Ford engines represented much better value to the family motorist when housed in the Prefect or Popular. Not half such fun to drive though!” Adrian Murray-Leslie From The Morgan Three-Wheeler Club

After World War II, the F-Super was brought back into production and continued with very few changes until it was eventually discontinued. Between 1910 and 1952, Morgan produced around 30,000 three-wheelers. The F-Super was the last true Morgan three-wheeler until 2012’s more modern revision, the F Super served as a fitting finale.

The subject of an extensive restoration in 2010 by Bob Barlow Car Restoration, Cheshire, there is a comprehensive set of photographs in an album which documents the restoration work. The Morgan was fully dismantled, with the body removed from the frame and reduced to a bare chassis without the engine. The chassis was refinished, while the body and timber frame were restored, with new wood fitted where required. It was then repainted in a delightfully tasteful and regal Burgundy and fitted with a refreshed dashboard panel. The Morgan was reassembled onto a rolling chassis, with the wire wheels repainted in silver and the wiring system renewed.

Offered with a current V5C and some old V5Cs and MOT paperwork, all told, this F-Super was the pinnacle of three-wheeler Morgan production in the golden age of motoring and surely one of the more exciting early post WWII British motorcars to own… then and now.
