II Golf GTI remains one of the most rewarding driver's cars of its generation and this 1991 example has been transformed into a highly capable fast road machine, blending classic Volkswagen styling with significantly enhanced modern performance.Whilst the odometer displays approximately 176,000 miles, this Golf now benefits from an Audi/Volkswagen Group AUG-code 1.8 litre 20-valve turbocharged engine conversion, providing a substantial increase in power and drivability over the original powerplant. The installation is complemented by a K03 turbocharger, performance induction system and supporting upgrades, creating what should prove to be an exceptionally entertaining driver's car.The vendor advises that the car has benefitted from considerable restoration and recommissioning work, including the fitment of a new cambelt and fuel pump, giving confidence to its next custodian. The chassis has been thoughtfully developed to match the enhanced performance, featuring coilover suspension and attractive Team Dynamics Motorsport alloy wheels shod with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres. Braking and road holding are well suited to enthusiastic use, whilst externally the Golf retains the purposeful, understated appearance that has made the Mk. II GTi such an enduring classic.Inside, the cabin has been extensively prepared with motorsport in mind. A Safety Devices roll cage is fitted throughout, together with Sparco competition bucket seats, TRS four-point harnesses, a Sparco steering wheel, aluminium door cards, battery master cut-off switch and FireSense fire extinguisher system. Auxiliary gauges provide additional engine monitoring, whilst electric windows remain fitted, retaining a degree of everyday practicality.Finished in black with subtle GTi detailing, Hella auxiliary driving lamps and a discreetly aggressive stance, this Golf presents as an exceptionally well-executed fast road build that would be equally at home on spirited B-road drives, track day outings or enthusiast events.Offered complete with its extensive specification and benefiting from significant investment, this is an opportunity to acquire a comprehensively developed Mk. II Golf GTi combining classic analogue driving appeal with the performance and reliability of Volkswagen's renowned 20-valve turbo engine.
