1963 BMW Isetta 300

Introduced by BMW in 1955, the Italian-designed Isetta was produced under licence across several countries in the post-war years, its distinctive egg-shaped body and bubble-like windows giving rise to the term 'bubble car'

Built on the South Coast in Brighton, UK-supplied, right-hand drive Isetta 300s of this type featured the single door hinged from the right, with the steering column moved across accordingly and a counterweight fitted to compensate for the change in weight distribution, along with Lucas electrics and Girling brakes in place of the German components used on continental-built cars

This 1963 example is finished in a cheerful shade of Primrose Yellow and is propelled by the model's characteristic 298cc single-cylinder engine driving through a four-speed manual gearbox
